Extended Vacation Approval

Dear Parents,

As we head into the second semester of the year we would once again like to
remind all parents of the importance of following the school calendar when
scheduling family trips. It can be very detrimental to a student¹s academic
performance when they miss school even if it is just for a few days.

We recognize that there may be times when a family has valid reasons for
extending a vacation, but remind you that on these rare occasions a student
must receive approval at least two weeks in advance. This is required so
that their teachers are given ample opportunity to plan for their absence,
thus limiting the amount of missed work. Extended vacation requests can be
made by calling me directly at 549-8240. Burr and Burton reserves the right
to mandate tutorial help any time a student needs additional academic help
to catch up. This support will be at the expense of the family.

In addition, I would like to thank all of you for helping us make our daily
attendance at school more efficient. Please continue to call Sue Towslee the
morning of your child¹s absence. Sue can be reached at 549-8102.

Thank you for your cooperation. We hope that your student has a successful
remainder of the school year.

Yours sincerely,
Tony Cirelli
Dean of Students
