The Pursuit Of Wellness 5K Walk/Run, an independent event benefitting The Hirshberg Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research, will be held on April 16th, 2011 at Riley Rink at Hunter Park in Manchester, VT from 9AM to 1PM. This event seeks to aid the thousands of people who will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in the near future by assisting in the lengthy journey towards the discovery of a cure. For registration forms find us on Facebook, email us at thepursuitofwellness@gmail.com or visit Riley Rink.  Registration fees are as follows: $25 for ages 15 and up, $15 ages 7-14, and ages 6 and under free.

Pancreatic cancer, an under recognized, leading cause of death amongst Americans, has no cure. An estimated 43,140 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer this year, and over 36,800 of those diagnosed will die from the disease, making it the 4th leading cause of cancer related death in the United States. Because the symptoms of pancreatic cancer are so vague, by the time the diagnosis is made, it may be too late. Much research still remains to be done to determine earlier detection methods and more successful treatment options.

On Tuesday, April 5 Linda Mitchell, Health Coordinator at The Dorset School will be speaking at The Collaborative's monthly coalition meeting.  Linda's presentation will be from 4:00pm-5:00pm at Manchester Elementary Memorial School (MEMS) in the Jackie Parks room.
