The Refuse to Use Kick-Off is scheduled for Sunday September 13th from 1:30 – 3:00 in the Burr and Burton Academy Gymnasium. This is a mandatory event for students wishing to participate in Refuse to Use. Students must attend with a parent/guardian or caring adult. Doors open at 1pm and no one will be admitted after the presentation has begun. This year's presenter is Michael Nerney, a professional in drug and alcohol prevention, he will speak on alcohol, adolescence and the brain. The Refuse to Use program is a prevention program to encourage students in grades 7-12 from Burr and Burton Academy, Flood Brook Union School, Long Trail School, Manchester Elementary Middle School, Maple Street School, and The Dorset School to choose to be and stay substance free. Students take a pledge to be substance free, parents, guardians or caring adult take a pledge to support their child, students participate in five prevention-education workshops (two of these must be attended by a parent, guardian or caring adult) and in exchange students receive a season pass to Stratton Mountain, Riley Rink or Viking Nordic Center for a small administrative fee of $35 (scholarships available).

LIVE GREEN an Energy Expo and Music Festival on September 5th. The Energy Expo runs from 10am to 5pm with workshops, kids' activities, exhibitors and an eco market to shop in. The Music takes the stage from 5pm to 11pm. There are many BBA Alumn's that are participating! Come see Chelsea Edson's Bella Run Jewelry in the Eco Marketplace… Support local (BBA) grown bands including Greyspoke and Goldtown!! Hope to see you there!
