The Performing Arts Department will be hosting a Calliope Cafe Friday October 23rd at 6:30 p.m. in the Rowland Center.

Hey all you writers and artists! Time has come to start submitting work for the next Between Ranges Literary Journal. If you have any Poems, Short Stories, Photographs, etc, please e-mail them to Ellie Turner at eturner@burrburton.org or come find me some time during school. GERMAN CLUB EVENT!!!! Join the German Club for our first event - Oktoberfest! Thursday, October 1st - 5:00 PM in the cafeteria. Make pretzels, eat sausages, listen to music and celebrate German culture! Boys Basketball Open gyms will begin Sunday September 27 and will run Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 at the BBA gymnasium.

Jo Kirsch, of Wild Mountain Yoga, is offering an after school yoga session on Tuesdays: 4 -5:15 pm. German Exchange trip to Stuttgart, summer 2010 - very important meeting for students AND parents - Sunday, September 20th, 6:00 PM in the cafeteria. Be there!

COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOP FOR PARENTS OF SENIORS: Wednesday, Sept. 16, at 7 pm in the Rowland Center. This program will recap details of the college process, application tips and other information the school counselors have shared with seniors during their senior college workshops in August. COLLEGE FAIR FIELD TRIP for interested Juniors and Seniors to the NEACAC College Fair at St. Michael's College on Friday, Sept. 18. The bus leaves promptly at 7:15 a.m. and returns to Manchester by 3:00 p.m. Students must bring a completed college fair worksheet, permission slip to the School and College Counseling Office. No reservations will be accepted after Tuesday, Sept. 15. Students will not be permitted to drive separately to the college fair.

IMPORTANT SENIOR DOCUMENTS were due to the School and College Counseling Office on September 10th. Please make sure your students' forms have been submitted.

DEADLINE to sign up for the October 24th ACT Test is Friday, September 18.

The Refuse to Use Kick-Off is scheduled for Sunday September 13^th from 1:30 – 3:00 in the Burr and Burton Academy Gymnasium. This is a mandatory event for students wishing to participate in Refuse to Use. Students must attend with a parent/guardian or caring adult. Doors open at 1pm and no one will be admitted after the presentation has begun. This year's presenter is Michael Nerney, a professional in drug and alcohol prevention, he will speak on alcohol, adolescence and the brain. The Refuse to Use program is a prevention program to encourage students in grades 7-12 from Burr and Burton Academy, Flood Brook Union School, Long Trail School, Manchester Elementary Middle School, Maple Street School, and The Dorset School to choose to be and stay substance free. Students take a pledge to be substance free, parents, guardians or caring adult take a pledge to support their child, students participate in five prevention-education workshops (two of these must be attended by a parent, guardian or caring adult) and in exchange students receive a season pass to Stratton Mountain, Riley Rink or Viking Nordic Center for a small administrative fee of $35 (scholarships available).

LIVE GREEN an Energy Expo and Music Festival on September 5^th. The Energy Expo runs from 10am to 5pm with workshops, kids' activities, exhibitors and an eco market to shop in. The Music takes the stage from 5pm to 11pm. There are many BBA Alumn's that are participating! Come see Chelsea Edson's Bella Run Jewelry in the Eco Marketplace… Support local (BBA) grown bands including Greyspoke and Goldtown!! Hope to see you there! And if you need any community service hours contact Andrea Lee, volunteers needed!

All Senior Advisors: I'm looking for Seniors who have a free B or C block to come to my ESL classes and help with conversation skills. There is a New Driver's Ed class that will be starting on Sept. 10 and Ends Oct 23. It will be held on Tues. and Thurs. evenings from 5 to 7 pm. Call Bill Herrmann at 375-6863 for more information and to sign up. There are only a few spots left in this class so don't delay!
