Daily announcements

  • The Holiday Ball will be on Friday, December 21 at the Manchester Eagles from 8-11PM.  Tickets will be $8.00 a person or $12.00 per couple.  This is a Semi-Formal Dance, appropriate dress is required.  Tickets will go on sale beginning next week, 12/10/07.   Guests will need to register with Mr. Prevost.  Hope to see you there.

·         On-the-Spot Admission to Castleton State College

Seniors wanting to receive an immediate decision on their application to Castleton can do so on December 12, right here at Burr and Burton. Students submit a completed application to their counselor by December 7 and then interview with a Castleton admission officer on the 12th. The application fee is waived for this program. Students should sign up with their guidance counselor as soon as possible to take advantage of this program.

  • The Calliope Café will be held Friday December 7th at the First Congregational Church in Manchester at 6:30.

$5.00 adults and $3.00 students.  See Stan Beck or Mrs. Freebern for more information.

  • The music department will present African music concerts on December 12th & 13th at 6:30 in the Riley Center.  Tickets are $2.00 each and can be purchased during lunch, at the box office prior to each show, or by visiting www.burrburton.org

  • Attention boys lacrosse players: anyone who might be interested in earning money or community service hours by being an official for Equinox Lacrosse this spring should see Mr. Mackey for more details.
  • Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) is a dynamic, interactive educational program designed to prepare our country’s youth to become effective, ethical leaders in their home, school, workplace and community. Sophomore students who attend the Vermont seminar May 22-24 interact with leaders in business, government, education, media and non-profits; they get a realistic look at our nation, its people, and their role within the world community. Stop by the Guidance for an application.   Applications are due back in Guidance by Friday, December 7th.

  • Reminder: Seniors who have signed the free block policy contract must sign out and in at the main office before leaving and upon returning from free block. Thank you!
  • Egyptian Kingdoms tour for April 2009 is now accepting applications. See Mrs. Spring to sign up.
  • The next Driver’s Ed class will start the first week of January/ending February.  Then there will not be another class until April/May.

  • Attention to all students interested in acting in this year’s One Act Festival.

Ben Scurria has been hired to direct our one act competition play this winter.  In and effort to provide acting opportunities to as many students as possible, we will also be offering additional one act productions to be performed in March.  There is a place for everyone!

  • If you are interested in directing, acting, stage managing or working back stage, come to a mandatory meeting on Tuesday Dec. 17th at 3:00pm in the Riley Center Auditorium.
  • "Pottery for Pups", a service learning event to raise money for The Therapy Dogs organization, will be held Saturday, December 15th in the BBA cafeteria, from noon to 3pm. Dogs, friends, and family are all welcome!
