Founders Day Celebrated May 26

Burr and Burton Academy will celebrate Founders Day on Friday, May 26.
Ceremonies will begin at noon in the Rowland Center.
Founders Day is a day of celebration as the school remembers Burr and
Burton¹s founders, salutes the school¹s historical legacy, and honors all
those who have followed Joseph Burr and Josiah Burton in generously
supporting the school and its students. Burr and Burton celebrated the 175th
anniversary of its founding last year.
Following the ceremony, the celebration will continue with a student
music festival accompanied by lunch. All parents, students, alumni, and
friends are cordially invited and encouraged to attend. For more

  • There is a project in the works to paint famous quotations on the walls of the stairwell leading up to the English classrooms.  If you are interested in helping to select the quotations and paint them on the walls, please come to a brief meeting in Mr. Nicholson’s classroom right after school on Wednesday.
  • The formal concert will include performances by three prize winners of the L’Ensemble Student Musician Competition for the 2005-2006 season. First prize was shared between Robert Kelly, an 18-year-old baritone from Danby, Vermont, who is a senior at Mill River Union High School, and Kailey Miller of Lee, Massachusetts, a 12-year-old pianist who is homeschooled.  Rachel Noyes, an 18-year-old soprano from Manchester and a student at Burr and Burton Academy, won second prize. Congratulations Rae!
  • Field study students:  Mandatory Field Study Meeting on Friday, May 19.  Report to the Hunter Seminar Room the block you have Field Study. 
  • Field study students:  Final Projects are due on Monday, May 22 for all blocks.

  • If you are interested in signing up for the summer Driver’s Ed. course offered by Burr and Burton, please see Sue Towslee in the main office.  The classes run from June 15th-July 7th  from 8am-10am with driving time to be completed before July 28th.  Classroom attendance is mandatory!
