  • CALLING ALL ARTISTS: The Vermont Department of Health is sponsoring a poster contest for Alcohol Awareness Month in April.  The posters should reflect how alcohol is portrayed in movies, music and television and the damaging effects of this portrayal on youth.  Prizes include iPODS and cash.  Completed posters must be turned in by April 13th.  Information about the contest is available through Tracy Hughes, in the Health Clinic and Mrs. Hubner in the Art Department

 

  • Juniors:  Register for the May SAT:  on-line at www.collegeboard.com or with a paper form available in Guidance. A late fee will now be charged.

 

  • A, B, and C BLOCK FIELD STUDY STUDENTS:  Research Reports are due on Monday, April 10th

 

  • There will be a new  Drivers Ed. class beginning May 2, 2006.  Tuesday and Thursday evenings 5 to 7 pm.  Call Bill Herrmann at 375-6863 for more information. 

 

  • Dear Parents:  Many students have negative balances on their lunch accounts.  Please contact Cindy Herrmann, Accounts Receivables in the business office to check on your students accounts.  She can be reached at 362-1775 ext 149 or by email at cherrmann@burrburton.orgIt only takes a moment to look up a students account.  Thank you for your assistance in this.

 

 

  • Students interested in going to France with BBA in June (June 12-30) need to see Brigitte (Nicolet) this week.  A Tour de France including: Paris, Versailles, Chamonix, The Riviera, Provence, the Loire Valley, Brittany and Normandy is available to all students who passed French III. A three day extension in July is an option.  Friday will be the deadline to register for this trip.

 

  • National Honor Society members will meet Wednesday morning at 7:15 in the Hunter Seminar Room

 

  • Attention Students: if you are planning to be absent this week or the week after vacation, you must see Mr. Prevost in advance; if you do not, you will receive an unexcused absence for every day that you are out.

 

  • Alcohol Awareness Month News & Events:
    1. Tuesday 4/11/06: “Town Hall Meeting” is scheduled for Tuesday, April 11 from 6:30 – 8:00 pm at Long Trail School in Dorset. This event is open to all Northshire parents, community members and youth who are interested in discussing and planning ways to address the issue of underage alcohol abuse.  The Northshire Community Coalition is one of over 1500 communities nationwide that are holding “Town Hall Meetings” to alert the community to new research on the risks of underage drinking and empower the community to take action to stop it.
    2. Wednesday 4/12/06: Informal Question & Answer with VT Department of Liquor Control.  Jason Elmer, an investigator with the VT Department of Liquor Control, will be on hand during all three lunches , in the cafeteria, to answer any questions students may have about alcohol laws and related issues.  Educate yourself and make choices that work for you and your life.
